1. What Is a Cookie
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to store. We also use similar technologies, including pixels (small image requests), software development kits, and localStorage. For simplicity we refer to all of these as “cookies” on this page.
2. Consent and Geographic Gating
Strictly necessary cookies are set whenever the Site loads, because the Site cannot function without them. Analytics, advertising, and call tracking cookies are loaded behind a consent gate for visitors detected from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, or any other region where prior consent is required. The Site checks the Global Privacy Control signal and any prior choice you made in our consent banner before initializing these tags. If you have not made a choice yet, we default to the most privacy-protective option for that region.
3. Strictly Necessary
Required for the Site to function. You cannot disable these and use the Site at the same time. They do not track you across sites.
| Name | Provider | Party | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| (none set by Short Stay in LA today) | Short Stay in LA | First | We do not currently set strictly necessary cookies from our application code. If we add session or CSRF cookies, they will appear in this row. | — |
| _vercel_* | Vercel (hosting) | Third | Short-lived load-balancing and traffic-routing identifiers set by our hosting provider. Required for the Site to be served reliably. | Session |
4. Preferences
Remember choices you made on the Site, including your cookie consent selections.
| Name | Provider | Party | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ssla_consent_v1 (localStorage) | Short Stay in LA | First | Stores your cookie-consent choices in browser localStorage so we do not ask again on every page. | Until you clear site data |
5. Analytics
Help us understand traffic in aggregate. We use IP anonymization where the provider supports it.
| Name | Provider | Party | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics 4 | Third | Distinguishes unique visitors. Helps us understand how visitors find the Site and which pages perform. | 13 months |
| _ga_<container> | Google Analytics 4 | Third | Persists per-property session state for GA4 measurement. | 13 months |
6. Advertising
Let us measure ads we run on Meta and Google and, in regions where consent has been given (or has not been revoked), build similar audiences. Under California law, using these tools for retargeting or for similar-audience modeling is “sharing” of personal information; see our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page to opt out.
| Name | Provider | Party | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| _fbp | Meta (Facebook Pixel) | Third | Identifies your browser to Meta so we can measure ad conversions and (where you have not opted out) build similar audiences. | 90 days |
| fr | Meta | Third | Cross-context advertising identifier. | 90 days |
| _gcl_aw | Google Ads | Third | Stores the Google Ads click identifier so we can attribute a lead to the ad that drove it. | 90 days |
| _gcl_dc | Google Ads | Third | Display network conversion identifier. | 90 days |
| ad_personalization | Google Ads | Third | Records your ad-personalization consent signal. | Up to 2 years |
7. Call Tracking
We may use call-tracking tooling to attribute phone calls to a marketing source. A tracked phone number is shown only to visitors whose source we want to measure. Calls placed to that number are forwarded to our normal business line. We will disclose any call recording at the start of a call where required by California two-party consent law (Cal. Penal Code § 632) and only record where all parties have been notified.
| Name | Provider | Party | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| crsessionid (or equivalent) | CallRail (planned) | Third | Assigns a tracked phone number to your visit so we can attribute a phone call to a marketing channel. Set only if you call the tracked number. | 30 days |
8. Other Local Storage
The Site may use the browser’s localStorage to remember non-essential UI state, such as whether you have closed a banner. These entries are visible only to the Site and to you. We do not place personal information in localStorage.
9. Manage and Opt Out
Use any of these controls at any time. Your choice applies on that browser and device.
- Our consent banner.Open the “Cookie preferences” link in our footer to change your choices. (The banner is being deployed; the link will appear once it is live.)
- Global Privacy Control. Enable GPC in your browser or via an extension. We treat GPC as a valid opt-out of the sale and sharing of personal information under California law.
- Browser controls. All major browsers let you block or delete cookies in their privacy settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break the lead form and calculator.
- Operating system controls. Both iOS and Android let you reset or limit your advertising identifier.
10. Third-Party Choices
You can opt out of certain advertising directly at:
- Google Ads: adssettings.google.com
- Meta: facebook.com/adpreferences
- Network Advertising Initiative: optout.networkadvertising.org
- Digital Advertising Alliance: optout.aboutads.info
