Refund and Cancellation Policy

The cancellation schedule below applies to every booking confirmed directly through Short Stay in LA. If you booked through a third-party platform, that platform’s cancellation rules also apply. See our full Guest Terms for the surrounding context.

1. Scope

This Policy applies to guest bookings at properties managed by Short Stay in LA. Specific listings may publish a stricter or more flexible schedule on the booking confirmation; the schedule on your confirmation controls. See also Guest Terms and House Rules.

2. Cancellation Schedule

  • More than [POLICY: 30] days before check-in: full refund of rent paid; the security deposit is returned; any non-refundable booking fee is retained.
  • [POLICY: 15] to [POLICY: 30] days before check-in: fifty percent refund of the first month’s rent; the security deposit is returned.
  • Less than [POLICY: 15] days before check-in:no refund of the first month’s rent; the security deposit is returned.
  • Mid-stay cancellation:the unused balance of any rent paid in advance for whole calendar months not yet occupied may be refunded at our discretion or per the owner’s standing policy.

3. Security Deposit Return

Within twenty-one (21) days after the end of your stay we will return the security deposit, less itemized deductions for damage beyond normal wear and tear, missing items, or unpaid charges, consistent with California Civil Code section 1950.5.

4. Platform Bookings

If you booked through Airbnb, Vrbo, Booking.com, or any other third-party platform, that platform’s cancellation policy applies to the platform-mediated portion of your payment. Our policy above applies to any payment you made directly to us.

5. Force Majeure and Government Order

If your stay is rendered impossible or unsafe by an event beyond our reasonable control (natural disaster, fire, flood, earthquake, evacuation order, government health order making rental unlawful), we will refund the prorated unused portion of rent paid. We do not owe you a refund for cancellations caused by personal events unrelated to the property or the area.

6. How to Cancel

Email booking@shortstayinla.com from the email address on your confirmation, with your confirmation number in the subject line. We will reply within one (1) business day.

7. Chargebacks

If a payment dispute is filed with a card issuer or bank for a charge validly owed, we will provide documentation to the issuer and we may suspend future booking ability. Initiate cancellations through us first; chargebacks should be a last resort.
